Located 25 miles northeast of Chateauneuf
du Pape, Coste Chaude, the 50 acre hillside estate of husband and wife team
Marianne and Marc Fues above the village of Visan, translates to 'sun baked
hillside'. The excellent exposure and attentive management produce harvests of
low yields and intense, concentrated fruit. The blend generally result in a wine
of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah, with all of the fruit destemmed before vinification.
The resulting wine is very round and generous in texture. The estate believes in
growing organically, eschewing pesticides and chemical fertilizer use in in the
vineyards.

"A serious Cotes du Rhone with admirable structure as well as density, the
2001 Les Argentieres (75% Grenache and 25% Syrah) exhibits a deep plum color as
well as a big, sweet nose of pepper, figs, black cherries, and earth. Ripe,
medium-bodied, and moderately tannic, it should be consumed over the next 3-5
years." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #147

"From the northern tier of the Cotes du Rhone region, in the direction of
Valence, this super-rich, delicious, dark ruby-colored 1999 offers aromas of
wild blackberries, sweet cherries, earth, and black tea. Ripe and pure, it is a
delicious offering from the cool micro-climates of the Cotes du Rhone village
called Visan. A blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah, it did not see any new oak.
Enjoy it over the next 2-3 years." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #136
Cotes du Rhone Villages la
Rocailles
Selected from specific vineyard sites - from which the
harvest has been intentionally limited - fermented in vats with extended
maceration, this wine has great character and a dusky color supported by refined
tannins. It has the noticeable taste of plums specific to Grenache and the
harmony of Syrah. This is a wine that keeps well.

"Made from 55% Grenache and 45% Syrah, the 2001 Cotes du Rhone-Villages
Visan La Rocaille is a terrific choice for readers seeking a full-flavored
southern Rhone. A dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by a perfume of black
cherry jam, smoke, earth, pepper and spice aromas. With tremendous ripeness and
density as well as light tannin in the finish, it is undeniably alluring at
present, yet will improve for 2-3 years, and last for 7-8. Bravo!" 90

Cotes du Rhone
This traditional C?te du Rh?ne
is done in tank, with the fruit destemmed before being fermented on the skins
for about 20 days. There is no oak
used, so you taste just the explosively pure fruit.
The combination of Syrah and Grenache from very old vines create a
harmony between bouquet and structure.
This blood-red wine has lots of ?underneath? flavors with notes
of plum and blackcurrant. The wine
can be enjoyed immediately, as well as age beautifully for three to four years.
