KILLIBINBIN

"This is the kind of wine that offends Europeans and Eurocentrists, but which Australia can do so well when there are reasonably low yields and top-flight winemaking (in this case, Veritas?s renowned Rolf Binder). I have been working my way through my stash of 1998 Killibinbin Shiraz, and must admit it is one of the most popular wines with guests. Contrary to critics who believe these wines fall apart in a few years, the 1998 remains a youthful five-year old that has not moved far from its primary state. In any event, this is a big, fruit-forward, rich, concentrated, substantial, corpulent Australian red that is undoubtedly more ageworthy than most suspect. The purity of its flavor, enticing texture, and luscious personality in addition to its fair price, will please many tasters." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

"A straightforward, luxurious, earthy, pepper, black cherry and currant scented and flavored, full, pure red that will provide attractive drinking over the next 2-4 years." Robert parker, The Wine Advocate #155
"(60% shiraz and 40% cabernet sauvignon): Lively aromas of cassis, licorice, violet, pepper and spicy oak. Dense, juicy and intensely flavored, with red and black berries, licorice and an intriguing saline element. Finishes with firm tannins and lingering, fresh fruit. A very successful blend, and an excellent value." Steve Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 7-8/04
2002
$17.99 limited
"The 2002 Blend (65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Shiraz) exhibits a dense ruby/purple color along with abundant amounts of black fruits intermixed with chocolate, earth, and spice box. Medium to full-bodied, chunky, ripe, and corpulent, it is a total hedonistic turn on. This low acid, plump 2002 should be drunk over the next 5-7 years." 90 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
"Rich, ripe and generous with its cherry, plum and herb flavors, hinting at leather and pepper as the flavors linger, finishing with a swarm of refined tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Best after 2005." The Wine Spectator 9/30/03
