Another quasi-garage wine made from 10.6 acres of vines planted with 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc, this wine enjoys malolactic fermentation in barrel, aging on its lees, and while unfined, does receive a light filtration.

1996 $89.99 limited
"This vineyard near both Cheval Blanc and La Dominique has turned in an exemplary performance in 1996. A blend of 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, it boasts a dark ruby/purple color, as well as a sweet nose of black currants intermixed with licorice, toasty new barrel aromas, and smoked herbs. Medium-bodied, rich, ripe, and hedonistically styled, this wine was made from low yields, enjoyed an impeccable elevage, and was bottled without filtration. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2014." 90 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #122

1997 $69.99 limited
"It possesses a deep ruby color in addition to a sweet plum/cherry, woodsy bouquet with copious quantities of toasty new oak. A spicy St.-Emilion, with low acidity, medium body, and excellent richness and glycerin, it should drink well for 6-8 years." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #128

1998 $96.99 very limited
"Deep ruby. Sappy, Nuits-Saint-Georges-like aroma of black raspberry and sweet oak. Dense and sweet, with chocolatey flavors of black cherry, black raspberry and mint framed by oak. Big, well-distributed tannins coat the teeth. Appears to be delivering on its early promise. 90-91 Steve Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 5/6-00
"A superb effort, the dark ruby/purple-colored 1998 offers gorgeous aromas of flowers, blackberries, cherries, smoke, licorice, and spice box. It is deep, succulent, medium to full-bodied, with decent acidity, superb purity, and a creamy texture. Tannin is present, but it is well-integrated and balanced by the wine's depth. Anticipated maturity: now-2014." 90 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #134
"A breathtaking red. Very dark color. Loads of cinnamon, berry and currant aromas. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Wonderfully crafted. A new-wave St.-Emilion on the quick rise. Best after 2007. 830 cases made." 94 The Wine Spectator 1/31/01

1999 $84.99 available
915 cases made "This is an opulent, sexy, modern-style St. Emilion possessing deep, super-ripe black cherry and cassis fruit, smoke, and character in a medium-bodied, lush format. It tasted better from bottle than it did out of barrel. The finish is excellent, but with more length, it would have even jumped to the magical 90-point category. Some tannin is noticeable, but this wine is capable of lasting 12-14 years." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #140
