1995 $58.99 limited
"The superb 1995 may be the finest wine Lafon-Rochet has ever made. It boasts an opaque black/purple, inky color. This large-scaled, powerful, full-bodied wine will not win too many friends early in its life, but readers with youth and patience would be well-advised to lay away a case or two of this impressively extracted wine. The sweet tannin may become more integrated in less than 10 years. A very impressive, albeit brawny wine. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2025. Last tasted 1/97." 92 Robert Parker, Bordeaux
"The best wine ever produced at this estate. So sexy, so wonderful now--but be patient. Dark in color, ruby, inky. Blueberries, cream and vanilla character. Full-bodied, with full yet fine tannins. It literally massages your palate. Best after 2001." 93 The Wine Spectator 1/31/98

1996
$59.99 limited
"One of the sleepers of the 1996 vintage, Lafon-Rochet has turned out an atypically powerful, rich, and concentrated wine bursting with black currant fruit. The opaque purple color gives way to a medium to full-bodied, tannic, backward wine with terrific purity, a sweet, concentrated mid-palate, and a long, blockbuster finish. This wine remains one of the finest values from the luxury-priced 1996 vintage, and is well-worth purchasing by readers who are willing to invest 5-6 years of patience; it should keep for two decades. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020." 90 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #122
"Saturated, deep ruby-red. Sappy aromas of black cherry, graphite and roasted nuts. Very intensely flavored, dense and velvety, with ripe flavors dominated by black cherry, chocolate and sweet oak. Solid underlying backbone. Finishes firmly tannic and very long. 89-91 Steve Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 5/6-98
"Dark-colored, with floral, spice and dark-fruit character; the mineral and spice flavors follow through on the palate. Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a caressing texture. A refined and balanced Lafon-Rochet. Best after 2001." 90 The Wine Spectator 1/31/99

1997 $37.99 very limited
"This dark plum-colored, sexy, soft, medium-bodied, low acid Lafon Rochet reveals chewy black fruits intermixed with new wood and minerals. Exhibiting good density and ripeness, it is a very good effort in this accessible, drinker-friendly vintage. Anticipated maturity: now-2008." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #128

1998
$34.99 available
"I appear to have underrated this wine last year when it was revealing a sinewy character as well as dry tannin. The mid-palate has filled out, the tannin is sweeter, and the wine is a muscular, concentrated, full-bodied, brawny effort with an inky purple color, and abundant aromas of toasty new oak intertwined with jammy black currant fruit. Intense, long, but requiring cellaring, it could turn out to be outstanding. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020." 88-90 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #128
"Saturated ruby. Pure aromas of blackberry, cassis and violet. Fleshy and textured; more harmonious today than the Tesseron family Pontet-Canet. Attractive combination of chocolatey ripeness and menthol austerity. This has good stuffing for a '98, not to mention rather pliant tannins. 87-90 Steve Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 5/6-99
