LEWIS CELLARS

lewis_1.jpg

Lewis Cellars is a small family winery established in 1992 by ex Indy car racer Randy Lewis. Total production is approximately 8,500 cases annually of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah. The unique style of Lewis Cellars wine begins in the vineyards, sourcing the finest fruit available from Oakville, Rutherford and Pritchard Hill for red varietals, and the Carneros, Yountville and Russian River appellations for Chardonnay. Each site is selected for a specific varietal character.

" We have chosen low vigor rootstocks and a selection of clones to give us balanced vines with modest yields, producing maximum flavors. We're in the vineyards year round, walking the rows during every developmental stage: from pruning to bud break, bloom to set, and veraison to harvest. We learn more every year about each unique vineyard and make better wine as a result. There's also a certain satisfaction in driving a really dirty jeep." Randy Lewis

Chardonnay Barcaglia Lane
The source for Barcaglia Lane Chardonnay is a single rolling vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Developed by the Dutton Family in 1998, this site consists of 3 sloping blocks planted to three distinct clones ? 15, Dijon, and Old Wente ? and yields wonderfully ripe and complex fruit character. Compelling aromas of sweet citrus flower, sandalwood, tropical fruits and toasty oak lead the way, followed by rich and at the same time crisp flavors of blood orange and lemon meringue. Thickly textured, balanced and complex the wine shows beautifully now but will stand up to years in the cellar. 500 cases produced.
