Long before the movie Sideways brought the wines from Santa Barbara into prominence, there was  Doug Margerum's restaurant and wine store, The Wine Cask.  Holder of a Wine Spectator Grand Award since 1994, the Wine Cask has long been credited with bringing Central Coast wines to the people's glasses. Doug has also branched out making his own wine at Margerum Wine Company, producing limited quantities of wine made from the grapes from top growers.

Doug has also led us to one of the greatest discoveries, the Bordeaux inspired red wines from Tom Barrack's Happy Canyon vineyards - the warmest growing site in Santa Barbara.  Stylistically theses wines are somewhat unique, neither the medium-bodied Clarets of Bordeaux nor the extracted fruit bombs of many Napa properties.  Instead, they are bold and intensely flavored, structured, superbly balanced and dark in color. We will also be tasting the latest release from Doug's newest project - Cimarone.
