Located on a rocky plateau
at the western edge of the Rhone River, the estate of Valcombe is owned and
managed by Dominique and B?n?dicte Ricome. The
first vines were planted here in 1750, and today the property totals nearly 70
hectares. After five
generations in the same family, the Ricomes are producing very fine wine.
Everything here is done by hand and the selection is severe.

Cuvee Tradition
2002
$9.99 available
"No Prestige cuvee was produced in 2002 as all was blended into the
Tradition bottling (55% Grenache and 45% Syrah). Approximately 25% of the blend
spent time in oak casks. While the finish is a bit short, this is still a
noteworthy value. It exhibits a deep ruby color as well as subtle aromas of
licorice, earth, and spice in a medium-bodied, fruity, elegant style. Consume it
over the next 12-18 months." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #147
Costieres de Nimes
Cuvee Prestige
The Prestige cuv?e is made from a fine selection of 40 year
old Syrah and 55 year old Grenache aged in oak barrels for one year and bottled
unfiltered. Although this deep dark
red tastes great now, three years time will show you more complexity.
